Overview
Citadels are locations available in PvP Regions in which players can choose to compete.
Citadels become vulnerable once per week.
When a Citadel becomes Vulnerable all Alliances can compete against each other to try and gain control over it.
The number of Citadels that can become vulnerable per day can range from 1 to 3, and these Vulnerabilities happen from Monday to Saturday.
On Sundays, the Alliance who has won control over a Citadel will get to vote on the next week’s restrictions in that Citadel's Region. This applies to more than one Citadel if the Alliance has gained control over more than one.
Citadel Wars
Once a Citadel becomes Vulnerable, Alliances can compete in a Citadel War and fight for control of it. Citadel Wars are a series of battles. To participate in each battle, a player must spend a Citadel Sigil. Players will be given 6 Citadel Sigils per day and they can only be used when a Citadel is Vulnerable. More Citadel Sigils can be purchased in the PvP Shop. These free daily sigils regenerate to a maximum of 6, but if the number owned is higher as a result of purchases made in the PvP shop, extra Sigils are not lost at Daily Reset.
The first 4 battles are PvP battles against players in different Alliances. These will appear much like Quick Battles, giving players a selection of 3 possible opponents. The 5th and Final Battle is against a Citadel Guardian. The Citadel Guardian is a harder battle but is worth more points than the PvP Battles. After battling the Citadel Guardian (win or lose), the player will move back to the PvP Battles to repeat the process until they fight the Citadel Guardian again.
As players progress through more battles, they will increase in difficulty. This applies to both PvP Opponents and Citadel Guardians.
The Citadel Guardians are Troops that will only appear in Citadel Wars, guarding their Citadels. A total of 4 Guardians will appear. 1 of these Guardians will only appear in the Central Spire Region while the other 3 will appear in other Regions Citadels.
Encountering a Citadel Guardian during a Citadel War is a chance for players to earn more points for their Alliance. The first Guardian battle a player encounters starts at level 100 and each future Citadel Guardian battle will increase by 50 levels.
Players earn Citadel Points from battles in Citadel Wars in a similar way to earning VP from other PvP Battles. Each Citadel War lasts for 1 day, and the Alliance with the most points at the end of the day will be declared the winner.
Citadel Rewards
When an Alliance wins a Citadel War, they will receive some rewards for their victory. The following day, after the Citadel War, the winning Alliance will receive a special Regional Bonus that will give Gold Marks instead of Silver Marks. This special bonus will only apply to the Region the Citadel War was won, and it can only be received once by players of an Alliance Rank of Legionary VII or Higher.
Another reward the winning Alliance receives is the ability to do a Citadel Vote on the upcoming Weekly Troop Restriction in the Regions they’ve won. They’ll also be given the chance to vote on which Heroic Gem that will have a chance to appear. This will appear as a choice between 3 options for both Troop Restrictions and Heroic Gems. This voting lasts 24 hours after the last final Citadel War has ended for the week (Sunday for most people, depending on your time zone).
Citadel Voting applies to all Regions except Central Spire as it doesn’t have any Restrictions. Winning the Citadel in Central Spire will grant the winning Alliance additional Gold Marks instead.
